Showcase Sunday #6

Showcase sundayHello and welcome to Showcase Sunday. SS is a weekly blog hop hosted by Vicky over at Books, Biscuits and Tea where we showcase what books and bookish things we have received in the past week.

Long time no see everyone! I would like to say it is because I have not got any books in the past few weeks but that would be a lie! I have been waiting for books to arrive so I could do a collective haul but each week they never came and then they all arrived this week! This is what I got:

Bought:

The Philosophy Book (Dorian Kingsley)

Days of Blood and Starlight (Daughter of Smoke and Bone #2) & Dreams of Gods and Monsters (Daughter of Smoke and Bone #3) by Laini Taylor

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie

The Philosophy Book is part of a series I am collecting. I have The Psychology Book and The Religions Book which are both fab. This series just provides an overview of the topic and they are great for beginners like me!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone was one of my favorite books of 2011, so when Laini was in town I got the other two and had the third one signed!

I read some articles regarding Sherman Alexie and how his novel was banned in a few schools in the US. The reviews from friends and the premise looked so interesting so I thought I should buy a copy to support the author and I will be reviewing it soon!

Gifted:

Boy, Snow, Bird by Helen Oyeyemi (The image does not do the cover justice!)

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

Boy, Snow, Bird was bought for me by the lovely Natalie over at Book Lover’s Life as I won her review comment giveaway. Thank you so much my dear! πŸ˜€

I bought My Life Next Door with a Amazon Gift Card sent to me by a lovely blogger who I can’t find in my browsing history to thank. I will link when I find her!

Β Review:

The Boy in the Book by Nathan Penlington

These are my books for the past few weeks! The only book I intend to get next week is City of Heavenly Fire. I have pre-ordered it from my local Waterstones and I can’t wait to finish of the series.

What do you get this week? Have you heard of any of these? Let me know below!

You got quite a few interesting looking ones! I still haven’t read Daughter of Smoke and Bone (I know, I really need to get to it, I always hate when I haven’t read books it seems like everyone else has!) I love learning about philosophies and stuff, so that looks like a really awesome book! The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian – I’m not 100 percent sure if it’s for me or not.. but the more I see it, the more intrigued I am!

I hope you love all your books – and glad they all finally arrived!

I have to buy Dreams of Gods and Monster!!! I haven’t started that series, but one of my best blogging buddy is a huge fan of it and wants me to read the rest of the series with her. I hope it’s as good as everyone says! Plus, the covers of every book is stunning! I got My Life Next Door few months ago, so I’m super excited to read that this summer! Thanks for visiting, Alex!
