Showcase Sunday #7

Showcase sundayHello and welcome to Showcase Sunday. SS is a weekly blog hop hosted by Vicky over at Books, Biscuits and Tea where we showcase what books and bookish things we have received in the past week.

This week is definitely a case of quality! I did not just get a bookI got the book

I got 2 things this week: one tote bag and one book.

City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments #6 & finale!)

I read all 730 pages of this in a day. To be honest, I wish I did take it a bit slower but I really could not help myself. I have just had the week off work so it is not like I have anything too important to do. I enjoyed it immensely. One of the many things Clare is amazing at is epilogues and endings. I was so satisfied by the ending. It was immense! I feel hollow now because I know I am not gonna be able to read this for the first time again.

On my way out of Waterstones when I bought City of Heavenly Fire, I saw these tote bags for £2.99 and I decided that I deserved one. I have it hooked on my bed post to put my current read in so it doesn’t have to sit on the floor any more. I also put my book in it in my hand bag so it does not get market by all the stuff in my bag! I love the illustration on it!

This was what I got this week. To be honest, if every week was like this and I just got one amazing book every now and again, I would prefer that to getting huge hauls and not reading half of them. Definitely a case of quality of quantity!  What did you guys get this week! Let me know in the comments! 🙂

I completely agree! I got me my copy of CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE as well! I’m still reading it now even though I bought it on release day. I’m trying to savor Cassie Clare’s writing because it will be months again before we get to read her 2 new series 🙂 Thanks for dropping by my Sunday post 🙂

Same here, Alex! I use to buy a bunch of book last year and not read them, hence I decided to limit my purchases to book I know I’m definitely going to read. I still feel a bit guilty over all my unread books. Ah, I’m so glad that you loved CoHF. I’m going to read it this week and I’m so nervous about the deads Cassie mentioned in one of her tweets. I just wish it’s not Simon or Izzy, especially Simon as I’ve come to love him a lot since CoLS. I’m very looking forward to the epilogue! Happy reading 🙂

I have limited them in the last few months, especially since I decided to buy my books from the local book store. I feel bad about mine. I have started giving them away! :’)

I hope you enjoy the book lovely! I adored it! 🙂 Let me know what you think.

Ps, no spoilers, but is has a FANTASTIC epilogue!

Thanks for stopping by! 🙂 xxx

That tote bag is awesome! I LOVE Quentin Blake’s illustrations from the Roald Dahl books so I wouldn’t have been able to resist it either. I still haven’t read any of The Mortal Instruments books, I’m kind of glad the whole series is out now I can binge read them altogether! 😀 And I definitely know how you feel ending a series.. it sucks knowing you can’t ever have that ‘newness” of not knowing the characters and experiencing that world for the first time.

I hope you enjoy the series. Stick with it for the world. I was not a fan of the characters but I adored the world! 🙂

The lack of newness is pants. At least I have them all together to read now :3

Thanks for stopping by, April! 🙂 xx

I litteraly dived in to it and did not come out of it until i finished it!

I love the tote bag. I am like a kid carrying it round the house all of the time. It allows me to carry a cup of tea, my book and my robe/jacket to bed with ease :’)

Thanks for stopping by lovely! 🙂 xx

Wow it’s a huge book to read in just one day! I am a bit behind in the series (still need to read the third book). But I decided to read the Infernal Devices first (currently reading Clockwork Prince) before picking up TMI again 😀

WOW Alex!!!! Thats one massive book to read in a day!!!! So glad you loved it though. I need to get my copy soon but Im holding out to see if the HB gets a little cheaper! I have all the rest in HB.
I love the tote!!!! I have about 8 totes myself and find them so handy to bring books etc in.
Quality is definitely better than quantity!! 😉 xx

It kinda happen. I really could not put it down. I miss that feeling sometimes. The HB’s are so expensive and it is unfair to be honest especially when you have to wait too long for it.

I am a huge fan of totes bags. I don’t have quite that many but they are so good for getting books. I also use them.

Thanks for stopping by lovely! 🙂 x

That is what I use it for. It actually works.

I do recommend it. A lot of my friends read it because everyone else had and they entered it with a sense of resentment because they felt like they “had” to read it. Don’t do that my dear! 🙂 If you have time, pick it up. If not, there is always another book to pick up! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by lovely! 🙂 xx

    I LOVE that tote bag!!!
I still haven’t made my mind about reading CoHF though, it was an anticipated read twoish years ago but at this point, I just don’t care anymore. CP was a huge disappointment and I get the feeling I’ll have to drag myself through CoHF but I am glad to hear you enjoyed this one! 🙂

    Happy reading, Alex!! 🙂

haha thank you! It is so cute! 🙂

It is a shame CP was a let down for you!

I do think COHF is worth it. Just to see where everyone ends up. To be fair I feel like that with many series. I will get to the final ones someday but for now, I have better things to read 😛

Thanks for stopping by lovely! 😀 xx

City of Heavenly Fire!!! I read it in a day as well. It was so hard to put it down! I’m kind of wishing I’d taken a bit longer to read it as well, but we can always re-read it now 🙂

I really wish I did too. To be honest I think I am gonna re-read the whole series before Lady Midnight comes out. I am really glad that I was not the only one! 🙂

Thanks lovely! It is so cute. There were some other designs so I might buy another one! 🙂

  8. Jessica @ a GREAT read says:

Oh nice! Can’t believe you read that in a day! I usually can handle around 300 pages in a day. Guess I stop too much to blog or eat a meal! Glad you enjoyed the finale!

Small hauls are definitely nice! I tend to have a lot because I like to help authors with their book sales and buy them in their release week or preordering and all that. So my haul this week was a little bit big, but not nearly as bad as it was after the convention I went to!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!

    Have a GREAT weekend!

I was fortunate enough to have the day off and some long journeys on the bus. So all in all I had about 10 hours spare to read it! Thank you, mee too! 😀

I am gonna do more pre-ordering/ordering to store. It worked out really well and I would rather do that with specific books than just buying loads at one pont! 🙂

Gonna pop by now, my dear! Thanks for stopping by! 😀 xxx
