Review:
To say I wanted to enjoy this novel would be the most monumental understatement among all the understatements. I saw this on Netgalley and I had to have it. Road trip novels are well and truly my jam and I am always looking for my next favourite when it comes to this kind of of subgenre. I went it to this novel with open arms, so you can imagine how distraught I was when I dropped it and thus becoming my first DNF of the year at just over 1oo pages.
I usually don’t write DNF reviews but I want to encourage people to try this one out despite me not what I read of this that much.
Every now and again, I come across a book that I can’t get in to. This was one of them. I usually give books 50 pages, but I doubled that for this one. I genuinely tried. After 100 pages I was just not a fan of where this was heading. Leila was a a bit hard to empathize with and the whole POV changes are not something that I am too huge a fan of anyways. It got to the point where I just did not want to put more of my time in to it. I think I may have hyped this up a bit too much and it kind of fell flat. My doing and undoing when it came to reading this.
One thing that is certain when it comes to this novel, is that I will try again. I think it is the kind of book that does deserve some kind of second chance, but for now, it remains on my DNF shelf.

I’m sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy the book even though you wanted too! That really sucks. I love the cover for it so much. Though personally I don’t think this is entirely my cuppa tea

Oh no, that’s too bad. 😦 DNFing books is one of the things I hate doing most but sometimes it just doesn’t works! I wanted bad to DNF Red Rising because it was just not my thing but didn’t because I kinda have a challenge to not DNF my next 100 reads ahahah. LOL

I hate nothing more than not finishing a book to be honest! It is literally my worst nightmare!

I’m trying to find the motivation to read this one as well and it’s not working either. I mean, the premise sounds cool and pausible, but there’s just something about it that feels out of place to me, and I haven’t even started it yet!

I was really looking forward to it to be honest. But in the end I just couldn’t read another page. You know me, I am so easy to please. In the end though, this did not do much for me!

I do that sometimes. Hype a book up and then when it doesn’t meet my expectations it disappoints. To much hype isn’t always good for a book.
I have this on my TBR it sounds good, I will defiantly still give it a go, eventually when I get around to it, lol.
Hopefully when you give it that second shot it’s better.
Nice review for a DNF. I like how you still encourage to read even though you didn’t enjoy, because it’s all about opinions and they vary. Not everyone will share.

I think you should still give it a try. This is one of those books where I don’t think my opinions goes with most of the other reviews! The other ARCS have had some great things to say about this one!
